Hitachi Energy Expands Transformer Manufacturing in Türkiye with $30M Loan
Hitachi Energy Turkey Elektrik Sanayi A.Ş., a Turkish subsidiary of Hitachi Energy Ltd., which operates under Hitachi Ltd., is set to expand its transformer manufacturing operations in Türkiye. The project is supported by a $30 million loan co-financed by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), which provides $18 million, and MUFG Bank Turkey A.Ş.
The financing will fund the relocation and expansion of the subsidiary’s transformer plant, enhancing production capacity for transformers, essential components for power transmission and distribution networks.
Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Hitachi Energy supplies a broad range of power infrastructure solutions worldwide, spanning generation, transmission, and distribution. The expansion comes amid growing global electricity demand, driven by climate initiatives and the adoption of artificial intelligence in energy systems.
The investment also supports the international competitiveness of Japan’s power infrastructure industry and aligns with the Japanese government’s policy of promoting global energy network development. As a policy-based financial institution, JBIC provides structured financial support and risk-assuming facilities to assist Japanese companies in expanding overseas.
