Hitachi Energy Boosts Transformer Production in Poland with New Facility Expansion

13 Jun 2025
Hitachi Energy is marking 100 years of transformer production in Lodz, Poland, with a major investment to expand its manufacturing campus. The project includes a new 5,000-square-meter building aimed at increasing the production capacity of insulation and components for power transformers by 50%.

This expansion addresses the growing electricity demand in Poland and the wider European Union, where energy infrastructure faces challenges due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions. The Lodz facility, a key hub for power and distribution transformers, currently employs over 2,000 workers and has received the Factory of the Future award.

The new infrastructure will incorporate advanced machinery and automation to improve efficiency and ensure high-quality output. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the expansion is part of Hitachi Energy's global investment program exceeding $6 billion USD, expected to create over 100 new jobs locally.

Aligned with the company's Sustainability 2030 plan, the Lodz campus has already achieved a 90% reduction in carbon emissions and zero waste to landfill since 2019, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and responsible production.
