Hitachi Energy has committed to a $30 million investment to relocate and expand its dry-type transformer production facility in Zaragoza, Spain. The new factory, set to be completed by the end of 2026, will be situated at the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (Plaza), covering an area of over 22,000 square meters. This expansion will significantly increase production capacity, create new jobs, and demonstrate the company's dedication to sustainability, quality, and innovation.

The new facility will be LEED Gold certified, highlighting its sustainable architectural design. This investment is part of Hitachi Energy's global strategy to ramp up transformer production, which includes a broader $1.5 billion investment plan. According to Verónica Ruiz, Hub Europe Product Line Manager for Distribution and Traction Transformers at Hitachi Energy, the project underscores the company's commitment to the energy transition and its confidence in the Zaragoza team.

The investment will also bring new machinery and automation to boost the production of dry-type transformers. These transformers play a vital role in the transmission and distribution of electricity, especially for applications such as renewable energy integration, grid interconnections, data centers, and electric transportation.

Alfredo Garcia-Borreguero, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy Spain, emphasized the role of electricity in the future energy system and the importance of such investments to meet the growing demand for transformers and support local communities.
