Hitachi ABB to provide monitoring devices for India’s Tata Steel

30 Nov 2020

JHARKHAND, INDIA - Tata Group's Tata Steel has commissioned Hitachi ABB Power Grids to provide online monitoring and diagnostic devices for the preventative maintenance of transformers at the company's Jamshedpur plant.

The manufacturer will deploy their technology on five critical transformers at Tata Steel's Jamshedpur plant in Jharkhand.

The monitoring devices are part of the manufacturer's ecosystem for the digitalization of transformers.

The technology will enable real-time insights into the transformers' health and performance levels by measuring and carrying out real-time diagnostics on parameters such as oil temperature, gas-formation and load, the manufacturer said in a press release.

This project is part of the government initiative for the future growth of the steel industry in the country.
