Hitachi ABB provides cybersecurity system for 33 DEWA substations

DUBAI, UAE - Hitachi ABB Power Grids has been contracted by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to supply the control and monitoring system for 33 substations.

The five-year framework contract includes the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 15 new substations and the refurbishment and upgrade of 18 existing substations across Dubai.
Through the framework agreement, the manufacturer will supply DEWA with a cybersecurity solution encompassing substation automation, control and protection monitoring systems (SCMS).
The contract also includes the supply of the power automation technology, as well as intelligent electronic devices (IED) for the protection, control, measurement and supervision of power systems that meet the international standards for operational technology (OT) cybersecurity.
The project is an important step in introducing next-generation power systems and a smarter and stronger grid in the Middle East.
