HD Hyundai Electric to Boost U.S. Transformer Production by 30% by 2026
HD Hyundai Electric announced plans to expand its U.S. manufacturing operations, with a target to increase production capacity by 30 percent by the end of 2026.
The expansion will scale the company's annual transformer production in the United States from around 110 ultra-high voltage units to 150. The additional output is intended to address rising demand driven by growth in renewable energy projects and data center construction.
The United States has become the company's largest market, contributing 40 percent of revenue in the first half of 2025. Despite ongoing tariff pressures, demand has remained strong, with the firm's order backlog reaching $6.55 billion, up nearly 25 percent compared to a year earlier.
HD Hyundai Electric, Korea's largest transformer manufacturer, operates a plant in Alabama and recently opened a sales subsidiary in Texas to serve U.S. clients, including technology firms and energy developers.
The company said the planned investment will support U.S. grid modernization efforts and respond to the increasing need for reliable power infrastructure.
