Hansa Meyer Brazil Coordinates Record-Breaking Transformer Transport to Saudi Arabia
Hansa Meyer Brazil has managed a landmark logistics project, transporting 14 massive transformers from Hitachi Energy in Guarulhos, Brazil to Saudi Arabia. Each unit weighs approximately 340 tons and required one of Brazil's largest girder bridge trailer combinations--22 axles at each end, totaling 136 meters in length and over 800 tons of gross weight.
The first transformer traveled 390 km to the Port of ItaguaÃ, occupying an entire lane of the highway between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The Federal Highway Police noted this was the largest trailer-cargo combination ever to operate on the route.
The operation was carefully planned to minimize traffic disruption and ensure safety. Its scale and complexity quickly drew public attention, went viral on social media, and received broad national media coverage.
The remaining 13 transformers will be transported throughout 2025 and 2026, cementing the project as a milestone in Brazilian logistics and transport engineering.
