Hammond Power Solutions Completes AEG Power Acquisition
Hammond Power Solutions Inc. has completed the acquisition of AEG Power Solutions for approximately US $256 million (CAD $365 million), following regulatory approval of the previously disclosed transaction. The move expands HPS beyond its traditional transformer-centric model into a broader role across the electrical value chain.
The acquisition strengthens HPS’s position in power quality and power conversion technologies, while also extending its global reach. As industrial systems evolve toward more integrated and performance-critical electrical infrastructure, the combined capabilities are expected to support demand across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transportation, data centres and heavy industry.
According to HPS, the deal aligns with its long-term direction to deliver more complete system-level offerings. “This transaction gives HPS a global platform to accelerate growth in power quality and power conversion solutions and services,” noted Adrian Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of Hammond Power Solutions. He further emphasized that it “enhances our technology portfolio and expands our service and aftermarket capabilities. By bringing together the two organizations, we are expanding our international reach and strengthening our ability to support customers operating in increasingly performance-critical electrical environments.”
As part of the integration, HPS is establishing a new business unit named Integrated Electrical Solutions (IES). This unit will combine AEG Power Solutions’ portfolio with complementary elements from HPS’s existing operations. The structure is intended to unify capabilities across magnetics, power quality, power conversion, critical power, controls and service.
Franck Audrain, Chief Executive Officer of AEG Power Solutions, described the transition as a scale opportunity for the business, stating, “Joining HPS gives us greater scale, broader market access and the ability to bring our capabilities to more customers and applications. The AEGPS team looks forward to advancing that next chapter as part of HPS.”
Going forward, Hammond Power Solutions Inc. will report through two segments: Transformers and Integrated Electrical Solutions.
