GE wins contracts for five SVC projects

11 Sep 2019

PARIS, FRANCE -- Grid Integration Solutions, a division of GE's Grid Solutions, won five major projects for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) which uses GE's latest Static Var Compensator (SVC) technology.

The projects will be implemented in Ascutney, Vermont for VT Transco, Vermont's transmission utility; Santa Barbara D'Oeste in Brazil; Kurukshetra, India for The Power Grid Company of India; Rød and Verdal in Norway for Statnett; and Jeddah North, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Saudi Electricity Company.

FACTS and SVC technologies integrate transmission solutions that help meet the increasing needs of transmission systems to accommodate and carry bulk power.

"Static Var Compensator (SVC) solutions are a cost-effective and efficient means to provide dynamic voltage support and maintain the reliability and efficiency of power supply. These solutions are highly reliable, easy to integrate into both existing and new infrastructures, and reduce the costs of building new network extensions," said Fabrice Jullien, Global FACTS Business Leader for Grid Integration Solutions.
