GE Vernova T&D India Expands Manufacturing Capacity with New Tamil Nadu Plant
GE Vernova T&D India has approved an investment of $5.7 million (₹550 million) to establish a new manufacturing facility in Vallam, Tamil Nadu, aimed at expanding its high-voltage equipment production capabilities.
The planned facility will manufacture Disconnectors and Drives for 362 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers, products that the company currently does not produce. The expansion is intended to support growing demand in both domestic and export markets for advanced power transmission equipment.
According to the company, production at the new unit is expected to begin by December 2026. The project will be financed through internal accruals.
The move marks a strategic expansion of GE Vernova T&D India’s manufacturing portfolio as demand for grid modernization and transmission infrastructure continues to rise in India and overseas markets. The company already manufactures a range of transmission and distribution products, including transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
Industry observers note that the investment could strengthen the company’s position in the specialized high-voltage equipment segment, where infrastructure spending and grid upgrades are expected to remain strong over the coming years.
