GE Vernova Expands Manufacturing Facility in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy

4 Mar 2026
GE Vernova Inc. has announced a $30 million expansion of its electrification manufacturing facility in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy. The expansion aims to increase production capacity for bushings, components essential to power and generator transformers used in global transmission and distribution networks.

The project is expected to create approximately 50 new manufacturing jobs in the Lombardy region. New production lines will include advanced dry-type bushings, such as Resin Impregnated Paper (RIP) and Resin Impregnated Synthetic (RIS) technologies, supporting voltage levels up to 245 kV.

Philippe Piron, CEO of GE Vernova’s Electrification segment, stated that the expansion strengthens the company’s bushing manufacturing capabilities and supply security for customers, supporting large-scale power transmission and generation projects worldwide.

The Sesto San Giovanni site hosts GE Vernova’s Bushing Center of Excellence and has been producing high-voltage bushings for over 100 years. The facility is a key part of the company’s strategy to support global electrification demand and the ongoing energy transition in Italy.

This expansion forms part of GE Vernova’s broader $11 billion investment plan in capital expenditures and R&D through 2028, which includes acquisitions, facility expansions, and grid modernization initiatives across multiple regions.
