Products & Services
- Insulation Technology
Weidmann is the world leading supplier of Insulation Technology for key applications in the energy sector. Our wide product portfolio, combining innovation, experience and know-how delivers Transformerboard, Paper and Component solutions on a global scale.
Transformerboard
- Invented by Weidmann over 80 years ago
- Designed to enhance transformer reliability, efficiency and safety
The range includes:
Cellulose Based Transformerboard - supplied in sheet and component form as a base material in power, distribution and special transformers. We offer 3 Board types in this range:
- Hot-Press-Dried Board (T4) – with the highest mechanical and electrical strength
- Calendered Board – typically used as curved pieces eg. cylinders with small diameters in power distribution and special transformers
- Laminated Board – offers the same high mechanical and electrical strength of T4 but with increased thicknesses available
High Temperature Transformerboard – developed exclusively for applications that require functional components to resist prolonged periods of high temperature (200 °C) while maintaining dimensional stability and dielectric strength. Product offered in this range:
- Aramid Board – also known as Nomex® Transformerboard under agreement with DuPont™, this insulation material provides high levels of electrical, chemical and mechanical integrity with exceptional resistance to high temperatures
Paper
- Specialized producer of cellulose based papers for electrical insulation applications
The range includes:
Cellulose Paper – leading producer of cellulose and cotton-based papers, design specifically for applications in the power sector. Papers offered include:
- Crepe Paper – designed for use in electrical applications to insulate irregular shapes and surfaces where a proper insulation cannot be reached with flat papers.
- Insulation Paper – manufactured from 100% wood pulp and used for conductor wrapping
- Presspaper in Reels – using a multilayer construction process, this paper offers the maximum electrical and mechanical strength
Engineered Paper – designed for increased efficiency, higher temperature withstand, and smaller physical footprint to enable the distribution transformer sector to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Papers in this range include:
- TUF-Flex® - is a thin diamond pattern coated insulation paper that provides the highest level of mechanical performance for layer insulation in distribution transformers.
- INSULutions®DPE – this Diamond Printed Enhanced insulation paper offers increased thermal rating, accelerated drying and liquid impregnation rates, and better dielectric performance with excellent mechanical strength.
- INSULutions®STRIP-Flex K - a thin diamond pattern coated layer insulation paper that provides superior performance for HV strip layer insulation in distribution transformers.
Components
- offering a comprehensive range of sophisticated insulation components for oil immersed, special fluids, dry-type or gas filled transformers.
The component range includes:
Cellulose Based – made from cellulose based Transformerboard, these components meet the highest requirements required for power and distribution transformers.
High Temperature – for projects that require the highest temperature resistance, Weidmann’s High Temperature Components are designed to withstand 200°C for long periods of time.
