Four power transformers transported from Sweden to the site in Normandy, France

3 Oct 2019

NORMANDY, FRANCE - Since mid-August to October, four power transformers have been transported by railway from the Port of Blainville in Caen to RTE's site in Calvados, where they are responsible for establishing an electrical link between France and England.

The power transformers manufactured by ABB in Sweden arrived at the Port of Blainville by boat, reports Construction Cayola.

Exceeding the freight weight and dimensions allowed for road transport, the transformers were then transported from the port to the substation site by dedicated trains on special wagons.

Special checks were conducted to make sure the rail freight can cross bridges and overcome challenges along the route, due to its weight and exceptional size.
