Football field-sized transformer making its way to Collier County

3 Jul 2019

LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA - Florida Power and Light is moving a 300-foot-long transformer from a substation in Lee County to a substation in Collier County on Wednesday.

The 17-feet-tall and 16-feet-wide transformer, which is the size of a football field, will be taking the journey from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, reports NBC2.

The transformer weighs about 1 million pounds and cannot be broken into pieces, so it will have to be transported whole.

The transformer takes up two lanes on the road.
