With a focus on providing electricity to around 90,000 households in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg,  Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg GmbH (EWF) is taking proactive measures to address the evolving energy landscape. Regional Manager Thorsten Wieck notes, "We may be a smaller grid operator, but we are also noticing major changes due to the energy transition in our very rural area."

As part of EWF's strategy to ensure a reliable power supply, the company is turning to data analysis and new sensor technology for its transformers. Recognizing the potential vulnerabilities of older systems, Wieck emphasizes the need for continuous analysis to identify trends early on. Partnering with MR (Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen), EWF is utilizing the TESSA® FLEETSCAN 2D digital consulting approach, providing a detailed inventory and an accurate picture of the transformers to inform future decisions.

In addition to data analysis, EWF is investing in new monitoring devices, including a MESSKO® oil level indicator, a MESSKO® thermometer, and the maintenance-free MESSKO® MTRAB® dehydrating breather. These upgrades not only enhance operational safety but also enable remote monitoring, saving valuable time for the service team. The decision to invest in advanced technology aligns with EWF's commitment to maintaining equipment in optimal condition for years to come.
