Eviny Solutions, a subsidiary of AF Gruppen ASA, has been awarded a contract by BKK to upgrade the Simonsvik transformer station in Laksevåg, Bergen, to a GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear) facility. The turnkey project is valued at over USD 9.7 million (NOK 100 million), excluding VAT.
The scope of the contract includes the design, delivery, and reconstruction of electromechanical systems, converting the existing AIS (Air-Insulated Switchgear) to a more environmentally friendly GIS system.
Tormod Solberg, EVP at AF Gruppen, stated, “AF Gruppen’s vision is to clear up the past and build for the future, and this upgrade to environmentally friendly GIS technology is therefore a good fit.” Design and procurement will begin immediately after the contract is signed, with installation scheduled for 2027.
AF Gruppen acquired 80% of Eviny Solutions AS in September, with the remaining 20% retained by Eviny AS. The company will rebrand to AF Elkraft on 14 November 2025.
The project is part of a broader set of infrastructure initiatives led by Eviny Solutions, focusing on sustainable energy and modernization of existing electrical systems.
