Eurogulf Expands High-Voltage Transformer Production for Power Grid Growth
UAE-based manufacturer Eurogulf Transformer has announced a new expansion of its production facility in the Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah, as it scales up capacity to meet growing regional and global demand for power and distribution transformers.
The expansion involves a new investment of approximately AED 60 million (~$16.3 million USD), increasing the company’s total investment in the free zone to around AED 100 million (~$27 million USD).
Eurogulf Transformer, which specialises in the design and manufacturing of power transformers used in transmission and distribution networks, will expand its industrial footprint to approximately 350,000 square feet, more than doubling its current production capacity.
The upgraded facility will focus on manufacturing high-voltage transformers up to 220 kV, which are essential components in substations and high-voltage transmission systems that transport electricity across national grids.
These transformers play a central role in ensuring voltage stability, efficient power transfer, and grid reliability, particularly as electricity systems expand to accommodate renewable energy and rising demand.
The company supplies equipment to major utilities and energy operators across the UAE and wider region, including electricity authorities and oil and gas companies.
The expansion is designed to respond to increasing demand from grid infrastructure projects, substation upgrades, and industrial electrification, all of which require higher-capacity and more advanced transformer systems.
Eurogulf also highlighted that its expanded production will support markets across the GCC, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and international export regions, reinforcing its position in the global energy equipment supply chain.
Founded in the Hamriyah Free Zone, Eurogulf Transformer has grown into a key regional supplier of oil-immersed and dry-type transformers, serving critical infrastructure projects in the power sector.
The company’s expansion reflects a broader industry trend where grid equipment manufacturers are scaling capacity to support:
- Substation development
- Transmission network expansion
- Renewable energy integration
- Industrial electrification
As electricity systems become more complex, transformer manufacturing capacity is increasingly seen as a strategic part of energy infrastructure development, not just industrial production.
The Hamriyah expansion positions Eurogulf Transformer to strengthen its role in delivering high-voltage equipment for substations and transmission networks, while supporting long-term infrastructure development in the UAE and beyond.
