Eskom warns customers in Eastern Cape and Western Cape about inclement weather

20 Jul 2021
SOUTH AFRICA - Eskom urges customers to remain patient as extreme weather threatens the network in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces.

As the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces are preparing for another stormy week ahead, Eskom is expecting an increase in faults.
The inclement weather has put the network at risk and can affect the electricity supply of customers in some areas, potentially leaving some customers without electricity for prologued periods, Eskom said in a media release.
Unfortunately, the stormy conditions also affect the restoration efforts of company technicians out in the field.
Eskom will prioritize its response based on the size and duration of the fault. Significant faults on the MV and HV network that affect a large number of customers will be prioritized.
Faults that have left individual customers without power for more than 48 hours will take priority, followed by faults longer than 24 hours until the most recent ones.
Eskom urges customers to remain patient and follow the channels made available to log a fault, the company said in a media release.
