Eltel Secures Contract to Build Major 129-MWp Solar Farm in Finland

10 Feb 2025
Sweden's Eltel AB has secured a firm contract with Finnish renewables developer and fund manager Taaleri Energia to build a 129-MWp solar farm in Finland. The project, valued at EUR 73.5 million (USD 76.1 million), marks a significant step in the country's renewable energy transition, as the plant is set to be the second-largest solar farm in Finland.

Under the turnkey contract, Eltel will handle the construction of the Hallanvahti solar farm, including the transformer station and grid connection. Additionally, the company will be responsible for the site's operation and maintenance. This contract follows an earlier conditional engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement signed in late 2024, with the project now reaching Ready-to-Build status after the full Notice to Proceed was signed.

The Hallanvahti solar farm is expected to generate around 140 GWh of clean electricity annually, providing power to approximately 18,000 homes. Construction work is set to commence in the first quarter of 2025, with the commissioning of the plant anticipated by mid-2026.
