Electric Research Manufacturing Cooperative Inc. Plans Major Expansion in West Tennessee

22 Oct 2024
Electric Research Manufacturing Cooperative Inc. (ERMCO) is set to enhance its transformer manufacturing capacity in West Tennessee through a three-phase project that will create 400 jobs. This expansion, located in Dyersburg, is a significant step for ERMCO, which is part of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives Inc. and claims to be North America's largest manufacturer of oil-filled distribution transformers, employing around 2,000 people.

The ambitious plan is supported by $54.1 million in tax credit financing from a consortium of five lenders and will include the establishment of an employee training center.

"This investment will enable ERMCO to expand our manufacturing capacity, create new jobs, and support the nation's critical infrastructure needs," said Adam Kruzich, the company's CFO, in a statement. "We're helping to ensure a reliable and resilient electrical grid. We're proud to contribute to the economic growth of Dyersburg and play a vital role in building a sustainable energy future for the United States."

ERMCO's initiative is part of a growing trend, with multiple industrial players investing to address a power sector in need of more transformers.
