El Sewedy installs 500 kV transformer for the first ever East-of-the-Nile power line

1 Aug 2019

CAIRO, EGYPT - El Sewedy Electric is executing a 500 kV power transmission project to connect Benban 3 solar park to Naga Hammadi and transmit and transfer electricity produced from solar energy projects in Aswan.

For the project, the company has successfully installed a 500 kV power transformer which will be operational until the completion of the expansion of the Benban transformer plants which will transfer the electricity produced by the solar power stations to the electric grid, reports Daily news Egypt.

The 500 kV transmission line under construction is the first power line to run east of the Nile. The line will run parallel to the network that was established west of the Nile.

The new line will also transfer the energy generated by the projects to be implemented on the Red Sea coast and the valley - a giant power station in Beni Suef, another one in south Helwan and a number of coal stations in Safaga, Hamrawin, and Quseer.
