El Sewedy Electric to build transformer stations for major sugar beet project in Egypt

30 Apr 2019

CAIRO, EGYPT - Canal Sugar, an Egyptian joint stock company, headed by the Emirati investor Gamal Al Ghurair, signed three contracts valued at $291 million to complete the establishment of its sugar beet project in Minya.

Among the contractors, El Sewedy Electric was selected to link the project to the main power station in west of Mallawi, Minya, along with establishing transformer stations, reports MenaFN.

The project aims to develop the world's largest beet sugar production facility with a capacity of 900,000 tons annually, as well as reclaim 187,850 acres of desert land which lies in west Minya in order to grow two million tons of sugar beet per year.

The company plans to complete the construction of the plant in January 2021.
