EIB supports upgrade of the Greek distribution network with $277m

26 Feb 2020

THE ATHENS, GREECE - The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Hellenic Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO), a subsidiary of Greek largest electricity supplier Public Power Corporation (PPC), signed the $277 million loan agreement for the reinforcement and the modernization of the Greek electricity distribution network across the mainland and islands.

Under the expansion program, over 4,350 km of medium and low voltage power distribution lines will be installed to improve the distribution efficiency and increase network stability and resilience.

The upgrades to the national electricity distribution network are necessary to better connect and integrate renewable energy sources to the country's electricity network.
