Ecuador to double power transmission build-out efforts

QUITO, ECUADOR -- The state power transmission company Transelectric has assigned projects in combined worth of $26 million to expand and improve the country's power system.


The project includes the 230/138/69kV substations at Taday, Durán, Posorja, Esmeraldas, Esclusas and Salitral.

Compromiso de Consorcio CIS-SDEE Electrical Engineering, who was assigned the contract to supply transformers and other equipment along with related services are sheduled to complete the work within 450 days.

The planned infrastructure expansion should help the system to become more efficient with regards to growing residential, industrial and commercial demand, and improve energy trade with Colombia and Peru as part of the Andean power interconnection initiative SINEA.
