Ecuador signs power transmission contracts

ECUADOR -- Ecuador state power corporation Celec's transmission unit Transelectric has signed contracts for the supply of goods and services in an international public tender.

The tender is part of an energy matrix change program financed by IDB.
The call was launched in November and targets the 230/138/69 kV Posorja, Orquídeas, Tanicuchi, La Avanzada and Cajas systems.
The lots offered were transformers, autotransformers, and primary AIS and GIS equipment; control panels and other monitoring equipment; conductors, insulators, hardware, and fiber optic cable; and galvanized steel metallic structures.
A deal was signed with Consorcios Wotal (Wolong Electric Yinchuan Transformer-Totalfor Comercio Internacional) for $25.7 million, with Consorcios Longfor (Wolong Electric Yinchuan Transformer-Totalfor Comercio Internacional) for $12.3 million, with Henan Dingli Power Equipment for $5.38 million and with Henan Dingli Power Equipment for $6.48 million, reports BNamericas.
A similar bidding process launched in December under the same IDB-financed program for the 230/138/69 kV Taday, Durán, Posorja, Esmeraldas, Esclusas and Salitral systems drew offers from Hidalcom; Proelectrica, Productos Electricos Generales; Shandong Taikai Power Engineering; Chint Electrics; Pileggi Construcciones; Xian Electric Engineering; Sangdong Industries; LS Electric; Compromiso de Consorcio CIS-SDEE Electrical Engineering; Compromiso de Consorcio CIS-DFE Electrical Engineering; Compromiso de Consorcio Coinsel; Compromiso de Consorcio YCBTO; and ABB Power Grids Colombia.
In a separate tender, Transelectric awarded Consorcio Chongón (Inextec-Áltitum) a contract to carry out technical studies for the 230 kV Lago de Chongón-Posorja line.
Meanwhile, Transelectric declared void a call to draft the EIS for the 230 kV Los Encuentros-Cumbaratza and 138 kV Cumbaratza-Delsitanisagua projects.
Other planned works in the Celec unit's development pipeline include the 230 kV Chorrillos-Lago de Chongón and Tisaleo-Totoras lines, and the 230/138 kV San Idelfonso 1 substation, reports BNamericas.
