Eastern Lubricants Signs Ergon Transformer Oil Agreement
Eastern Lubricants Blenders PLC has entered into a one-year agreement with Premier Petroleum Products & Lubricants Limited (PPPLL) to jointly market, sell, and distribute Ergon-brand transformer oil to government organisations in Bangladesh.
The agreement, signed on 9 July 2026, is part of Eastern Lubricants’ strategy to expand beyond conventional lubricants and strengthen its presence in the specialised lubricant segment.
Under the partnership, PPPLL, the authorised Bangladeshi distributor of US-based Ergon, will work with Eastern Lubricants to supply transformer oil to public-sector customers. Transformer oil is used in electrical transformers as an insulating and cooling medium, supporting the reliability and efficiency of power infrastructure.
Eastern Lubricants said the collaboration will help the company provide internationally recognised transformer oil products to government institutions and support its broader diversification strategy.
The company, a subsidiary of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), is Bangladesh’s only state-owned lubricant manufacturer. It produces and distributes automotive, industrial, marine, and specialised lubricants.
The partnership comes as demand for transformer oil is expected to increase alongside the expansion of Bangladesh’s electricity transmission and distribution networks. However, the companies did not disclose the expected sales volume, financial value, or projected impact on earnings from the agreement.
Eastern Lubricants has reported improved financial results for the first nine months of the 2025–26 fiscal year, with earnings per share increasing compared with the previous year, while operating cash flow declined due to higher receivables and supplier payments.
