DG Matrix, Skeleton Integrate Solid-State Transformers and Fast-Response Energy Storage
DG Matrix and Skeleton Technologies have entered a strategic technical and commercial partnership to develop integrated power solutions for 800 VDC AI data centers. The collaboration combines DG Matrix's Interport™ solid-state transformer (SST) platform with Skeleton's fast-response energy storage systems to address the rapid and repetitive power fluctuations created by high-density GPU clusters.
The joint solution integrates Skeleton's GrapheneCBU800 and GrapheneBBU800 energy storage systems with DG Matrix's galvanically isolated, multi-port SST platform. According to the companies, the combined architecture is designed to absorb peak loads, provide fault ride-through capability, deliver backup power, and route energy between AC and DC sources, storage, and loads in real time. The approach is intended to improve power resilience while supporting the industry's transition toward 800 VDC infrastructure.
Taavi Madiberk, CEO and co-founder of Skeleton Technologies, said the shift to 800 VDC power architecture represents a significant change for AI data centers, adding that fast-response energy storage is needed to prevent GPU-driven power surges from affecting the grid. Haroon Inam, CEO and co-founder of DG Matrix, described the collaboration as a step toward a power architecture designed for dynamic AI workloads, combining solid-state transformers with high-speed energy storage.
The announcement cites research from SemiAnalysis projecting that approximately 39 GW of new AI data center capacity will adopt 800 VDC architecture by 2030, creating an estimated $13 billion addressable market for solid-state transformers. Both companies state that their technologies are already designed to operate at the 800 VDC voltage class, positioning the partnership to support next-generation AI data center deployments.
