Delta Star to Be Acquired by MacLean Power Systems
Delta Star, a Lynchburg, Virginia-based manufacturer of power transformers and mobile transformer substations, has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by MacLean Power Systems (MPS), a South Carolina-based manufacturer of utility power infrastructure products.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1908, Delta Star operates facilities in Lynchburg and Forest, Virginia, California and Quebec, Canada. The company employs more than 1,400 people across the United States and Canada, including 755 at its Lynchburg operation.
For MPS, the acquisition expands its substation market presence and adds larger-scale power transformer capabilities to its portfolio.
“Delta Star brings highly respected power transformer and mobile substation capabilities, which complement our existing portfolio and strengthen our ability to support customers across the full power delivery network,” Steve Scharnhorst, MPS CEO, and Mike Plaster, MPS president, said in a statement.
Delta Star President and CEO Jason Greene said, “Together we can better serve our customers during a time of rapidly growing electrical infrastructure needs due to unprecedented, explosive growth.”
Delta Star said the acquisition is not expected to involve staffing changes.
