DEER to Build New Transformer Substation in Florești
Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania (DEER) has signed a financing agreement worth USD 52 million (RON 237.5 million), including VAT, for the modernization and digitalization of electricity distribution infrastructure in Cluj County.
The project covers Cluj-Napoca and Florești and is expected to benefit approximately 80,000 residential and non-residential customers.
The planned works include upgrading the medium-voltage network in Cluj-Napoca to 20 kV and constructing a new 110/20 kV transformer substation in Florești. The project also includes the implementation of a Smart Metering System across Florești.
According to Mihaela Rodica Suciu, CEO of DEER, the investment will increase distribution capacity and support the integration of additional renewable energy into the network.
The financing agreement is part of DEER’s investment in the modernization and digitalization of the local electricity distribution network. The company said European funds are supporting the project.
The works will cover residential and non-residential customers in several areas of Cluj-Napoca and Florești, with the investment aimed at improving the capacity and resilience of the local electricity distribution infrastructure.
