Corpoelec bought 500 transformers that cannot be used in Venezuela

26 Apr 2019

Venezuela's state power corporation Corpoelec bought 500 transformers which, due to technical specifications, cannot be used in the Venezuelan electrical system.

The transformers were acquired from China between the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. Corpoelec accepted the shipment and followed the process in accordance with the provisions of the contract despite the fact that the transformers were not compatible with the country's electrical distribution system, reports El Pitazo.

The transformers, which are now located in the warehouses of the electric company, are only suitable for the voltages of the electricity distribution networks of Cuba and Nicaragua, but not Venezuela.
