BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA -- The government has announced plans to launch four processes next year to improve the country's power transmission infrastructure. 

Head of the country's energy and mining planning unit UPME, Christian Jaramillo, has made the announcement during Euroconvention Global's Renpower Andes online event.

The projects would include the 230kV Estambul and Huila substations, which would cost $24.5 million and $36 million respectively, as well as transmission lines in Valle del Cauca and Huila departments, respectively. 

There are also plans for a fourth transformer at the 500/230kV Sogamoso substation and a second transformer at the 500/230kV Primavera substation.

The transformers are scheduled to come online in 2024 and the substations and transmission lines in 2026.
