Colombia awards contract for 110 kV substation and transmission project in Cartagena

Colombian energy and mining planning agency, UPME, has selected a contractor to execute the 110 kV La Marina transmission line and substation project which will help strengthen Cartagena power grid.



The selected investor is a consortium of engineering companies Consorcio Eléctrico Del Mar Caribe, who presented an offer of $49.5 million, UPME said in the press release.

The project includes construction of a new La Marina substation and an upgrade to the transmission line originally operating at 66 kV. A new 110 kV line will be built between the existing substations Bosque and Chambacú and a second line will connect Bocagrande and Termocartagena substations.

The project is slated for completion by August 30, 2023.
