CIGRE chooses Efacec expert for Transformer Digital Twin working group

19 Apr 2022

CIGRE has selected Efacec's Head of Digital Asset Management and R&D for the working group that will study and discuss the digital twin concept when applied to transformers.

The Chairman of the Technical Council of CIGRE has approved the TOR-JWG A2_D2.65_Transformer Digital Twin - concept and future perspectives Joint Working Group (JWG).

One of the experts integrating this selected group is Ricardo Ribeiro, Head of Digital Asset Management and R&D at Efacec and one of the Transformer Technology expert contributors.

The objective of the group is to study and discuss the digital twin concept when applied to transformers and identify the existing processes in the transformer lifecycle that could benefit the most from the digital twin concept (design, manufacturing, operation, maintenance, life management, real-time data monitoring, etc.), how models could be shared and enhanced throughout the transformer life cycle, and then define the priorities for future developments.

The group is scheduled to begin works on March 2022 until September 2025, Efacec said in a media release.

"We are honoured to be recognised by the organisation and to be part of this JWG," said Ribeiro. "CIGRE is a collaborative global community committed to the world's leading knowledge development programme for the creation and sharing of power system expertise. Efacec is proud to collaborate with CIGRE for the last decades in different areas of our expertise."
