CHINT Delivers 200 MVA Autotransformer to Tunisia’s Sanhaja Substation
A key milestone in Tunisia's national grid expansion was achieved with the successful delivery and positioning of a 225/90/11 kV - 200 MVA autotransformer at the Sanhaja substation.
The power transformer, manufactured by CHINT, was unloaded and placed on rollers at the site as part of a broader transmission infrastructure upgrade. Local contractor PTD ENGINEERING was responsible for the on-site unloading and positioning operations.
This delivery marks the fifth out of eleven power transformers scheduled for installation at various substations across Tunisia, signaling continued progress in the country's phased commissioning plan to strengthen grid reliability and meet rising electricity demand.
The Sanhaja substation plays a strategic role in regional energy distribution. With this autotransformer now in place, the project moves closer to enhancing transmission capacity and improving supply resilience in northern Tunisia. All logistics and technical operations were completed safely and efficiently, thanks to coordination between international suppliers and local engineering teams.
