Chinese Company to Build High-Voltage Transmission Lines and Substations in Uzbekistan

25 Apr 2023

Baku, Azerbaijan - China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. (CET) has signed an agreement with Uzbekistan's Energy Ministry to build high-voltage transmission lines and substations in the country.

The Chinese company will design, construct, and finance the project, as well as provide turnkey delivery of the transmission lines and substations. CET is responsible for providing electricity to 1.1 billion people, or 83% of China's population, in 26 provinces. The company is known for its construction of high-voltage and low-voltage transmission lines, substations, and generating capacities. It also operates in more than 40 countries worldwide. The project in Uzbekistan is expected to increase electricity transmission in the country.

In addition, Chinese and Turkish companies won an international tender by Uzbekistan's National Electric Grid JSC in January 2023 to construct high-voltage power transmission networks in Tashkent city and Sirdarya region. Turkey's "Şa-ra Enerji İnşaat Ticaret ve Sanayi A.Ş" will build a 220 kV power transmission line worth $31.89 million, while China's "Xian Electric Engineering Co., Ltd." will establish a 500 kV power transmission line at a cost of $14.68 million.
