BEIJING, CHINA - Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has signed a $1.8 billion investment deal in Beijing with the State Grid Corporation of China for expansion of its electric power transmission and distribution networks.

The signed project will supply power for up to 16 industrial parks, second railway line between Addis Ababa and Djibouti, and strengthen power supply for different cities in the country.

China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation (Sinosure) will support the project to enable the materialization of the investment in energy by the State Grid Corporation of China.
