China’s State Grid Jinhua Replaces Outdated Transformers for a Greener, More Reliable Power Supply

State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Company has begun a major transformer upgrade project to meet the increasing electricity demands and support China's carbon reduction goals. With China's economy expanding and energy needs rising, this upgrade will improve grid stability and ensure safer, more efficient power distribution for residents of Jinhua city, located in the eastern province of Zhejiang, eastern China.

On October 23, as part of this initiative, State Grid Jinhua commenced the replacement of older, high-energy-consuming transformers. These transformers, primarily the outdated S7 and S9 models, have been identified for removal due to their inefficiency and increased power load on the system. By phasing them out, the company seeks to optimize energy use, reduce distribution overload, and enhance overall safety.

The project, expected to conclude by early November, is a response to national energy policies advocating for sustainable power solutions. Since 2022, State Grid Jinhua has directed local power supply stations to inspect and assess transformer conditions. By replacing these older transformers, the company is enhancing its role in building a low-carbon, energy-efficient grid.

Moving forward, State Grid Jinhua plans to continue investing in power infrastructure, minimizing service disruptions, and ensuring a reliable power supply for residents and businesses in the Jinhua region.
