Chile transmission company wins $227m contracts

CHILE - Chilean electricity transmission company Transelec has been awarded four transmission projects totaling an investment of $227 million.


The projects include construction of a new 500/220 kV Parinas substation and a new 2x500 kV Parinas-Likanantai line, both in Chile's Antofagasta region; building a new 220 kV JMA substation in Biobío region; a new 2x220 kV Lagunas-Nueva Pozo Almonte line in Tarapacá region, and building a new 2x220 kV Candelaria-Nueva Tuniche line in O'Higgins region.

Chilean national grid coordinator CEN said last month it would put out to tender new contracts to build seven new substations, two lines and to expand three existing substations.
