Burke County Welcomes TMC Transformers’ $15.2M Facility Investment

25 Oct 2024
Burke County will soon welcome a new transformer production facility as TMC Transformers USA sets up operations in the area. The factory will add approximately 110 jobs and represents a five-year investment of $15.2 million, according to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who announced the development on Thursday.

TMC's Burke County facility will produce low- and medium-voltage dry-type cast resin and vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) transformers. VPI technology applies a durable resin coating to transformers, which extends the equipment's lifespan and durability. The new factory will support TMC's growth objectives, which include creating additional job opportunities, reaching $100 million in revenue, and focusing on sustainable energy use by incorporating solar power.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of another significant investment in Burke County. In the past few months, Ritz Instrument Transformers also launched a $28 million transformer facility, adding 130 jobs to the local economy. TMC's expansion represents the latest step in a trend of increased manufacturing activity in the area, which has been bolstered by state-led economic development efforts.

The new TMC facility is expected to begin operations by 2026.
