RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL - A Spain-based group Chimarrão Consortium will invest $592 million in power transmission sector in the state of Rio Grande do Sul over next two years.

The group has won a contract for the tender held by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) to integrate Rio Grande do Sul's wind power into the grid. The project includes construction of 745 miles of transmission lines and two transmission substations, reports Amanha.

The initial deadline for the project was March 2023, however, the group intends to shorten the deadline by putting the project into operation in June 2021.
