Brazil’s 2019 transmission tender expected to attract $1b investments

30 May 2019

Brazil's power regulator Aneel expects to attract $1b investments in a tender with 13 lots, due to take place on December 19.

The contracts will be offered for a total of 2,380 km of transmission lines and 7,900 MVA in transformation capacity, and include construction of 25 transmission lines and 18 substations, according to the announcement on ANEEL's website.

The projects on offer are located in 12 states, mostly in Bahia and Goiás states.

The final tender documents will be published on November 14. The winning companies will have between 42 and 60 months to execute the projects.

Brazil's most recent transmission tender was held in December 2018, when contracts worth $3.4 billion in total were closed for the construction of 7,152 km of new lines and 14,819 MVA of transformation capacity. These projects will be implemented across 13 Brazilian states.
