Bolivar Energy Authority Expands Power Capacity with New Transformer
The Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA) has strengthened its electrical infrastructure with the installation of a new 37.5/62.5 MVA, 161/24.94 kV power distribution transformer from Virginia Transformer.
The transformer was manufactured at Virginia Transformer's VTCU facility in Pocatello, Idaho, and delivered to BEA's Hebron Substation in Tennessee. The company noted that the delivery was completed with one of the shortest lead times in the industry.
Serving more than 11,000 customers across Hardeman County and parts of Fayette, Chester, and Madison Counties in Tennessee, as well as a portion of Benton County, Mississippi, BEA operates over 1,350 miles of power lines. On average, the utility provides electricity to eight customers per mile of line, highlighting the challenges of maintaining reliability across a wide service territory.
The new transformer is expected to support BEA's long-term efforts to provide reliable service to local residents and businesses, bolstering grid resiliency in the region.
Virginia Transformer emphasized that projects like this reflect its broader mission to help utilities across the U.S. modernize infrastructure and improve grid reliability.
