BC Hydro expanding transmission infrastructure in the Peace region

29 Apr 2019

VICTORIA, CANADA -- British Columbia's northeast is getting an electricity boost with a $215 million (CAD 289m) transmission project that will help power natural gas expansion in the Peace River region.

The federal government and Canadian state-owned utility BC Hydro have announced a project to expand the Peace area's existing transmission infrastructure by building two parallel 230-kilovolt power lines running from the Site C dam near Fort St. John to an area east of Chetwynd, reports On-Site.

The project should help the gas industry to move to clean, renewable energy, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
