Bangladesh gets funding for a major transmission project that will add 7,520 MVA of substation capacity

BANGLADESH - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted a $300 million loan for a transmission expansion project that will install 7,520 MVA of substation capacity in Greater Dhaka and the western zone of Bangladesh.



The project will include the construction of 25 miles of transmission lines and 4,450 MVA of substations in Greater Dhaka, as well as 228 miles of transmission lines and 3,070 MVA of substations and 20 bay extensions in the western zone, reports NS Energy.

The total cost of the Dhaka and Western Zone Transmission Grid Expansion Project is nearly $750 million.

Bangladeshi Government will contribute $249.25 million for the project, while the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is also considering to provide additional $200 million in co-financing.
