Baltic Power Offshore Wind Project Advances with Topsides Arrival in Denmark

7 Feb 2025
The Baltic Power offshore wind farm has reached a significant milestone as its two topsides arrived at the Port of Aalborg, Denmark, from Gdynia, Poland. This marks the completion of the prefabrication phase, and Semco Maritime is now preparing for the next phase of outfitting the substations.

The Baltic Power wind farm, developed by a joint venture between Orlen Group and Northland Power, is located 23 km off the coast of the Choczewo municipality in Poland. The substations, weighing around 1,300 tonnes each, will undergo outfitting in Aalborg, where key components such as transformers, switchgear, and control systems will be installed.

Once outfitted, each topside is expected to weigh approximately 2,500 tonnes. The completed substations are scheduled for sail-out by September 2025, and will be installed in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea. Offshore installation began in early 2025, while onshore infrastructure has been under development since 2023.

This project is part of the broader effort to expand offshore wind capacity in the region and is expected to generate 1,140 MW of clean energy once operational.
