Astor Develops 220 kV Transformer Substation in Romania’s Alba Iulia
Turkish transformer manufacturer Astor Enerji A.Ş., through its Romanian subsidiary Astor RO Energy S.R.L., is advancing its presence in Romania’s high-voltage energy infrastructure with a major project in Alba Iulia. The company is involved in the development of a 220 kV transformer substation (2×80 MVA) as part of a 75 MWp photovoltaic power plant project, in partnership with Enexus Renewable Energy and Compeador Construct SRL.
The substation will enable integration of the PV plant into Romania’s national transmission network, highlighting Astor Enerji’s expertise in transformer solutions and grid connectivity. While the EPC contract for the solar facility is managed by Enexus, the high-voltage installation represents a strategic milestone for Astor in the country’s renewable energy transition.
In addition to this project, Astor RO Energy recently expanded its footprint in Romania through the acquisition of three solar energy companies totaling 279 MW of PV capacity, signaling a broader commitment to both renewable energy and high-voltage infrastructure.
