Argentina’s largest wind farm begins operation featuring one of the country’s largest transformer stations

27 Sep 2019

ARGENTINA - With the commissioning of the second phase of Madryn Wind Farm in the Argentine province of Chubut, Madryn has become the largest wind farm in Argentina and one of the largest in South America.

To develop the farm, the company invested $320 million, entrusting the technology to the Danish company Vestas, the developer Genneia said in the press release.

For the project, Genneia and Goldwin built a new 500 kV transformer station with the installed capacity of 600 MVA and some of the largest equipment installed in the country.

The substation will be operated by the Argentine electricity transmission operator Transener.
