Ameren Missouri to build new substations and invest $5.3b as part of its Smart Energy Plan

28 Oct 2019

LOUIS, MISSOURI - Ameren Missouri introduced the Smart Energy Plan in August which will see $5.3 billion being invested in the electricity infrastructure upgrades that will serve more than 500 communities across the state.

Over the next several years, the utility aims to build new substations and install smart, automated equipment and new utility poles.

The upgrades are designed to reduce the likelihood of outages, particularly in the regions affected by storms and high winds.

Currently, as part of the investment, the company is building a new North Metro Operating Center in St. Louis and is soon to start works on the project to improve the energy delivery system in the Archview Division, which includes North St. Louis.
