Ameren energizes Mark Twain Transmission Project in NE Missouri

7 Jan 2020

QUINCY, MISSOURI - Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois, a subsidiary of Ameren Corporation, announced that a 96-mile, 345 kV transmission line and substation built in northeast Missouri is completed and energized.

The line travels west from Palmyra to Kirksville and then north to the Iowa border, reports Herald-Whig.

Also known as the Mark Twain Transmission Project, the project will help improve energy grid reliability, increased transmission capacity and allow greater access to lower cost energies, including renewable sources, such as wind.

The $267 million project also includes a substation near Troy Mills, a rural community in Adair County, which went online on December 19, 2019.
