Alageum Electric Expands to Kyrgyzstan with New Transformer Plant

30 Jan 2025
Alageum Electric, Central Asia's largest transformer manufacturing group, has confirmed its readiness to establish a transformer plant in Kyrgyzstan. The decision follows discussions between Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy and Alageum Electric's leadership.

During a working visit to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev met with Saidulla Kozhabaev, founder of Alageum Electric. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation and the potential construction of a local production facility to manufacture transformers at more affordable prices.

Following the talks, both parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, signaling the start of a strategic partnership. The construction of the plant could begin as early as this year if plans proceed smoothly.

As part of his visit, Minister Ibraev also engaged with executives from the Kentau Transformer Plant and Asia Trafo. He toured manufacturing facilities, reviewed transformer production processes, and discussed further energy sector collaboration.

The initiative aligns with Kyrgyzstan's broader efforts to enhance its energy infrastructure and localize production to reduce costs.
